This small 30cm x 40 cm egg tempera artwork showcases an exquisitely rendered floral composition. Except it is a small cutting of a fern painted larger than life. The artist, first sketched the fern no more than 8cm, a study of light and the coiled ferns leaves. She then painted the pencil sketch in egg tempera. Egg tempera, dires fast, so there is very little chance to mix colours before they dry.
